Why Choose Rose Decor
Spray Application Only
Brush application on UPVC leaves visible marks. We only offer UPVC painting as a spray-applied service — the only method that produces a factory-quality result.
Specialist UPVC Primers
We use UPVC-specific adhesion primer, not general-purpose alternatives. This is the critical difference in a finish that lasts.
Whole-Property Schemes
Windows, doors, fascias, soffits, and conservatories can all be sprayed to create a cohesive colour scheme.
8–12 Year Durability
A properly prepared and spray-applied finish lasts a decade in Lancashire’s climate.

Why UPVC Painting Is Different From a Standard Repaint
A Transformation, Not Maintenance
UPVC painting is not a maintenance job — it is a transformation. Repainting masonry or woodwork is usually driven by condition. Repainting UPVC is driven by wanting a completely different look.
Preston’s housing stock installed a huge amount of white UPVC through the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s. That white is now yellowing and greying on thousands of properties across Lancashire. Anthracite grey, slate blue, charcoal, and heritage green are the most popular choices. UPVC spraying is how you get there without the cost of full replacement.
The Cost Argument
For a single 3-bedroom semi, replacement UPVC windows and doors typically cost £6,000 to £12,000. UPVC spraying the same property to a new colour costs £900 to £2,000. Applied correctly, the result is indistinguishable from factory-fitted coloured frames.
See our exterior painting page if you are also considering a full masonry repaint alongside the UPVC colour change — the two are frequently combined.
Why Spray Application Matters
Brush and roller application is not viable for UPVC colour changes. On smooth UPVC profiles, brush strokes remain visible in the dried finish. Every stroke leaves a ridge that catches light. The result looks painted rather than factory-finished.
Spray application deposits an even, continuous film across the surface. No brush marks, no lap lines, no uneven build-up at edges. Done correctly, the finished surface is indistinguishable from coloured UPVC manufactured that way. Rose Decor masks window glass, door hardware, and surrounding surfaces fully before spraying.
Preparation Is Equally Critical
UPVC that is not properly cleaned and abraded will reject even the best primer. We degrease, abrade, and prime before the finish coats go on. Specialist UPVC adhesion primer is applied as standard.

UPVC Painting Services in Preston

Windows and Door Frames
Window frames are the most visible UPVC on any property and the most common starting point for a colour change. We spray casement windows, tilt-and-turn frames, and sliding door surrounds in any RAL colour.
Each pane of glass is fully masked before spraying the profile. We apply two finish coats over the adhesion primer, allowing full cure between coats. For properties in Fulwood, Ashton, and Penwortham with bay windows and larger front elevations, we quote by window count and frame complexity.
Fascias, Soffits and Guttering
White plastic roofline components — fascias, soffits, and guttering — are often treated as background features. They are not. A grey anthracite window scheme with still-white fascias and soffits looks unfinished. Spraying the roofline to match completes the scheme.
Many Preston properties from the 1980s and 1990s have original white roofline UPVC that has never been replaced. This is particularly common on the Deepdale and Brookfield estates. Spraying is a cost-effective alternative to a full roofline replacement if the boards are sound.
Front Doors and Porches
Rose Decor sprays UPVC front doors as part of a whole-property colour change or as a standalone booking. We spray the door face, the surrounding frame, and the porch frame if present.
Door hardware — letterboxes, handles, knockers, and hinges — is fully masked before spraying. We advise on whether the hardware colour works against the new door colour. UPVC back doors and patio door frames are included in a full-property quote.
Conservatories
Conservatory frameworks are usually UPVC or aluminium. The white frames on a conservatory added to a Preston semi in the 1990s or 2000s age quickly — they chalk, yellow, and gather green algae at the joints.
Rose Decor includes conservatory framework painting in a full-property UPVC quote. Conservatory frame painting can also be priced as a standalone job — see our conservatory painting page for dedicated conservatory repaints.
Colour Options
Any RAL colour can be specified for a UPVC respray. RAL 7016 anthracite grey is the most popular — by a significant margin. RAL 9005 jet black is popular on newer-build style properties. RAL 7015 slate grey suits older brick terraces. RAL 6009 fir green is increasingly chosen for period semis in Ashton and Longridge. RAL 9010 pure white is often used for a clean refresh rather than a colour change.

Here’s How It Works
1. Assessment
We inspect all UPVC surfaces, note any chips, cracks, failed seals, or structural issues. We flag anything that would affect the outcome before work starts.
2. Cleaning
All surfaces degreased and washed to remove mould, oxidation, and contamination. This step determines whether the primer bonds — it cannot be rushed.
3. Masking
Glass, hardware, brickwork, and adjoining surfaces fully masked. Drops and sheeting protect surrounding areas from over-spray.
4. Priming
Specialist UPVC adhesion primer applied to all abraded surfaces and allowed to cure fully before top coats.
5. Spray Application
Two finish coats applied by spray gun. Each coat assessed before the next is applied. The final coat is inspected in good light before masking is removed.
6. Inspection and Sign-Off
Masking removed, surfaces inspected at close range. Touch-ups completed before we leave.
UPVC Painting Costs in Preston
Prices below are estimates only. Every property is different. Call 01772 211 886 for a precise quote.
Typical Price Ranges
Single casement window (standalone booking): £80–£150. All windows and doors, 3-bed semi (Ribbleton or Ingol): £600–£1,100. Full property UPVC (windows, doors, fascias, soffits), Fulwood or Penwortham detached: £900–£2,000. Conservatory frame only: £300–£700.
What Affects the Cost
Number of items — quoted by element: number of windows, doors, and roofline length. Colour change vs colour refresh — white to anthracite requires more primer coats and preparation than a like-for-like refresh.
Surface condition — UPVC with heavy chalking, green algae, or surface damage requires additional preparation time before priming. Application method — full-property colour change is spray-applied throughout.
Preston’s Housing Stock
Preston has a large proportion of housing built between 1960 and 2000, much of it fitted with white UPVC windows and doors. The argument for spraying over replacing is compelling — UPVC profiles fitted in the 1990s are typically still structurally sound. Spraying converts the existing frames to any colour for a fraction of the replacement cost.
Many homeowners combine UPVC painting with a full exterior painting project. Painting masonry and roofline at the same time as the UPVC respray saves a second mobilisation and produces a more cohesive result.
